The Q&A Archives: yellow leaves of my established rose plants

Question: almost 1/5 of the leaves of my rose plants turned to totally golden yellow, is that caused by overfertilizing? Fertilizer instruction is every 7-10 days, i applied every 7th day. (2)does turning color of rose leaves to yellow sign of inadequate watering? is it okey to water rose in the early morning and another in the afternoon around 4pm?

Answer: Yellowing leaves are more likely due to overwatering than over fertilizing. Roses should be watered deeply only once or twice a week in the summer time. Water deeply and then allow the top of the soil to dry out slightly before watering again. Don't water twice a day - just once or twice a week in the mornings should be fine.
