Azaleas like moist acidic soils and most prefer morning sun and shade from hot afternoon sunshine. You can mix some peat moss or compost into the soil as you plant your azalea, then mulch with compost to help keep the roots moist. You can feed in mid-summer with a fertilizer formulated especially for rhododendrons and azaleas. Enjoy your new plant!
