I have a butterfly bush, I did some pruning on it but did not realize I had to cut it back in winter. I just cut it all the way back, but did I kill it or will it come back.
Thanks, Denise

Butterfly bushes can take all kinds of pruning and still come back strong each spring. In some places they freeze down to soil level each winter and still sprout and bloom the following summer. I don't think your hurt your plants by trimming it back. Butterfly bushes really like warm weather so they can be slow to green up in the spring - just be patient with your plant - it will sprout new stems soon. Enjoy your garden!
