We have decided to lay black cloth over garden plot to lessen weed problem. My husband and I aren't sure how to plant seeds such as corn. Do we run a slit all the way down the row and drop the seeds or take the time to cut out slits for each seed planted? Any suggestions for this type of planting would be greatly appreciated since this is new to us.

I would plant the corn it blocks rather than rows to ensure good pollination. With that in mind, cut slits in a block fashion and plant your seeds in the slits. After the corn comes up you can push the weed block around the stalks. Best wishes with your garden!
