We would like to plant two trees about a year old in our backyard in Dallas but have no idea what kind to get! We've never bought or planted trees before. We would like two different kinds of trees but both that stay green in winter, grow tall but not wide and grow in part sun (4 hrs day) and hopefully don't require a ton of water. Any suggestions?

I would plant a Texas Mountain Laurel (Sophora secundiflora) Height: 15 to 20 feet Spread: 10 to 12 feet with a symmetrical canopy, and a Leyland Cypress. Both will grow well in your region. Enjoy!
