Hello, I have a huge amount of ribbon grass and another ornamental grass that has gotten large. I would love to divide these and place them in other places but not sure when or how. Help!

Ornamental grasses have clumping root masses and you can dig and then divide them with a shovel. Expect the roots to be in the top 12 inches of soil and directly below the stems. You can cut the plants up into as many divisions as you want, as long as each division has both roots and green stems or leaves. Best wishes with your divisions!
