When trimming my indoor ficus tree. At what point on a branch do I make my cuts without damaging the tree? |
You can prune your ficus to shape by taking some of the branches back to the main trunk, and cutting some of the remaining branches back to about half. If you cut clear back to the trunk, the branch will not be replaced, but you'll encourage new stems and leaves to sprout on the remaining branches. Just study your tree and think twice about where you want to cut. Then make clean cuts with a sharp pruner so you don't damage the tissues and invite infection. |
