Question: i just planted a boston ivy plant that i bought on -line in good conditions. when i was watering the plant i notice some roots sticking out i immediately try digging it out to replant it as i was doing this the main root ball was well covered in its dirt i decided not to dig it out .i am worried by uncovering its roots it might die ....!!! i need some advice pleasse help..

Answer: What you are finding are aerial roots and they are common on ivy plants. Wait until your plant is well established and then either cut off the roots or cover them with additional soil. Your plant is vigorous and will be just fine, whether you cover the exposed roots or cut them off after the plant has grown lots more roots. Enjoy your ivy!
