My forsythia is 6 years old, gets full sun, is pruned to keep it at the level of our 6 foot privacy fence and it NEVER turns yellow! This year it had 3 tiny leaves turn yellow and then go green. What am I doing wrong? |
For best flowering performance, forsythia bushes should only be pruned in the spring, right after they flower. The reason for this is that they form their flower buds during the summer, hold them through the winter and then burst into bloom the next spring. Since your shrub sounds healthy otherwise, I suspect you have accidently been pruning off the flower buds. |
