Short of using pesticides, how can I kill a whole nest of earwigs in my Romaine lettuce that I'm not yet ready to pick? |
Earwigs can be trapped by laying damp newspapers in the garden in the evening and picking them up in the morning. The insects like to hide in cool, damp, dark places. Just roll or fold the paper up quickly and you'll trap the critters inside. Or, you can make traps with cat food or tuna cans. Put them in the garden, fill half-full with water and float some vegetable oil on top. The earwigs are attracted to the oil, will crawl in and drown. |
