Putting together a container garden is relatively easy and there are very few rules to follow. Start with an attractive container - one with drainage holes in the bottom to keep your plants healthy - and fill it with moistened potting soil. Plant choice is a personal thing. Choose your Mom's favorite colors for flowers and then find something tall and/or spikey such as dracaena, ornamental grass, asparagus fern, or delphinium or stock, and some trailing plants such as verbena, ivy, fuchsia or creeping charlie and fill in with low growing annuals or perennials. You will find a huge number of choices at your local garden center. I know you will put together a fantastic gift for your Mom. Enjoy!
