| Your zucchini plant has separate male and female blossoms. In the beginning of the season the blossoms are male and will not produce fruit. Female blossoms will appear soon and, if pollinated, will produce fruit. Look closely at the blossoms and you'll be able to tell which are male and which are female. The female will have a bulge at the stem end of the blossom - the ovary that will become a zucchini later in the season. Don't be too concerned with the wilting flowers. You'll soon have more squash than you imagined! |
