The Q&A Archives: Hydrangea

Question: Recently received a hydrangea plant that has flowers blooming. When is the best time to plant it outside. Now or after flowers have died.

Answer: To avoid transplant shock and early demise of the flowers, wait until the flowers are spent to plant your new hydrangea. Hydrangeas grow best in rich, well draining soils and appreciate morning sunshine but protection from hot afternoon sunshine. Enjoy your new plant!
