Congratulations on your new garden! About the only way to keep 4 legged critters out of your garden is to fence or cover it with bird netting. As for insect control, try visiting your garden every day or several times a day and going on patrol. Check the upper and lower sides of the leaves and handpick any pests you might encounter. This will keep the population small enough that you can keep up with it. And, remember that for every population of destructive insects, a population of beneficialas will show up to keep the population low. Best wishes with your new garden!
