I want to paint my terracotta pots a bright blue color. What would be the best kind of paint? I know terracotta is very porous, so I don't want a paint that would put toxins in the soil, but I also don't want the color to fade if I set it outside. Can you help me?

You'll be safe with a flat exterior latex paint, though it may take a couple of coats to get the depth of color and coverage you want. For long-lasting color, use a sealant over the dried paint coat. Ask your paint store professionals to suggest an appropriate sealant. Enjoy!
