You must get rid of those fire ants or your garden will become unworkable for you. There are many products on the market, but for home remedies try pouring 3 to 4 gallons of boiling water or soapy water on the ant mound to kill the queen. You can also try pyrethrum sprays or beneficial nematodes to control them. Don't build raised beds, since ants love loose, sansy soils. Be careful and check with your nursery for other ideas.
