What causes the leaves on my plants to yellow?

It depends upon the plant but the usual cause for yellowing leaves is overwatering. Some plants require moist soils but all plants benefit from soils that dry out slightly between waterings. So, check the soil moisture prior to watering and you can avoid overwatering.
