We put in a patio in our back yard and want to plant flowers, shrubs, anything that will make it nicer. What can we plant that will live in full sun? No trees at all except palm trees about 3 feet high. Thanks, Mary Deck

Some shrubs to consider include Cuphea hyssopifolia (Cuphea), Carissa grandiflora
'Nana' (dwarf natal plum), Ilex vomitoria 'Nana' (dwarf yaupon holly), Breynia disticha (Snow bush), and Euphorbia milii (Crown of thorns). Perennials that might look nice include Beach Sunflower (Helianthus debilis), Blue Daze (Evolvulus glomerata 'Blue Daze'), African Bush Daisy (Euryops pectinatus, Cigar Flower (Cuphea micropetala), Firecracker Plant (Russelia equisetiformis) and Gaura (Gaura lindheimeri). All grow well in full sunshine. Enjoy your new patio!
