The YTT plant I bought has lost all bottom leaves. Can I fill in with annuals? How far back should I prune and when

It's normal for your plant to become leggy (bare at the bottom). Wait until after flowering has finished this summer and then prune it back to encourage growth towards the center and the bottom of the plant. If you prune now you'll lose some of the flowering ability so wait until this summer. You can certainly plant annuals at the base of the plant to hide the legginess. Enjoy your garden!
