The Q&A Archives: strange limbs on Oak Tree

Question: We are in a severe drought, but have been watering with well water.
One of our large oak trees has new limbs growing the the old limps, but straight up into the tree. Only one tree has this. It's like a Banyon Tree but in reverse. Will these limbs do any damaga to the tree?
