| Unfortunately, pine trees are very difficult to plant under because the trees take up so much moisture and nutrients from the soil, block rainfall, and acidify the soil due to their repeated needle drop. It is usually very difficult to establish a new planting beneath one. The evergreen vinca minor is a possibility as a groundcover, but it is not a flowering plant. To create an attractive floral scene under the tree, you might try using a very large planter such as a half barrel and filling it full of colorful annuals each summer. |
