Depends on the plant and whether or not it is in a container. I get the impression it is in a container because you said you had no one to leave it with. If so, here's what I do when I go on vacation. I use 16 oz water bottles (full of water), take the caps off and push them into the soil up to their shoulders. One bottle will keep a 12 inch pot hydrated so if your container is larger, you may need to use two. Or, if your plant is extra thirsty, use two in a 12-14 inch pot. Start by thoroughly watering your plant so the soil is nice and moist and then plunge one or more filled water bottles into the soil. As the soil dries out the water is pulled from the bottle and keeps the soil moist. If you have time before your trip you can give it a try to see how long it takes your plant to use up the water. Best wishes with your trip and with your plant.
