The Q&A Archives: Types Of Rosemary And Planting

Question: What is the best variety of Rosemary to plant. Where is the best location? Is there a variety that can stand some shade shade in a damp area?

Answer: I like to grow good ole' Rosemarinus officinalis. It's the most common and quite easy. Rosemary thrives in a spot that is in full sun and has good soil drainage. I can't think of any variety of rosemary or, any herb at all that will really thrive in damp soil. Some herbs such as Pennyroyal, Sorrel, Spearmint, Borage, Catnip, and Cutting Celery will take part shade, but, they still need well drained soil.
