I just planted two everlasting hydrangeas that I purcased from Home Depot. They have developed reddish brown patches on the leaves. Any idea what this could be?

Sounds like sunscald or overnight chilling. I suspect your hydrangeas were growing in a protected place in the nursery and when you planted them in your yard the leaves were a little too tender to tolerate the change in environment. As your hydrangea establishes itself and develops new leaves, that new foliage will be more tolerant of the growing conditions in your yard and should not be quite so sensitive. Best wishes with your hydrangea!
