Here are some sunny spot annuals that are good for hanging baskets. Remember, the most important factor in having beautiful hanging baskets is staying on top of watering. During the hottest days of summer you may need to water more than once a day. Containers dry out very quickly. You may want to consider one of the self-watering types of pots and/or a soil additive that helps retain water such as Terra Sorb offered by Burpee (1-800-888-1447). Also, you are the sole means of nutrition for containerized plants...don't forget to fertilize! Here are the plants: Portulaca (excellent for drought tolerance), Alyssum, Ageratum, Convolvulus, Dusty Miller, Geranium, Heliotrope (smells heavenly), Lobelia, Verbena, Nasturtium, Pentas, Petunia, Phlox, Scaevola, and Helichrysum (looks spectacular with Verbena and/or Heliotrope).
