Your blue potato bush should be considered an annual plant and grown outdoors in a container to enjoy this summer. It thrives on heat and lots of sunshine but is not frost tolerant and not very adaptable to growing indoors. If you can provide greenhouse like conditions - lots of bright light and heat - you can overwinter it indoors, but in most homes it will be impossible to provide adequate heat and light over the winter. So, enjoy your beautiful tree this summer but expect to replace it next spring.

You are in USDA zone 6 (the blue potato bush is rated hardy in zones 10-11).
