The Q&A Archives: lilac bushes

Question: My mother has suckers off of her Lilac bush. How can I successfully transplant them to my house?

Answer: It should be easy. Just dig up some of those suckers by setting your shovel blade between the parent plant and the sucker and stepping down hard to sever the root. Take a bit of soil along with the roots, and plant the sucker shoot in your yard. The newly-planted suckers should be kept well-watered until they get established.
