The Q&A Archives: white birch tree

Question: I just recently planted a white birch tree, now the leaves are turning yellow & are falling off. I live in Southern California. What is happening? What do I do to bring back the green leave?

Answer: Newly planted trees and shrubs can go through an extended adjustment period, and I think that's what is happening with your birch tree. The roots will become established and the tree will produce healthy new leaves in time. While you are waiting, be sure to water deeply once each week so the roots can become established. Be careful not to over water, but do water deeply. Good luck with your landscape!
