Too much shade, excessively fast growth or just the type of your carnation can all contribute to floppy stems. Sometimes carnation flowers are just too heavy for the stems to hold upright and they need a little support. Stakes or wire plant holders work well. Make sure your carnations get lots of sunshine and hold off on fertilizer which can prompt rapid but weak growth. Enjoy your garden!
