Should you cut down your clematis in the fall or save the branches for new growth in the spring.

Clematis blooms on new wood which is produced on old wood so you can prune yours down in the spring, just before new growth begins. Don't prune back too far - you'll need some old wood on which new flowering shoots can develop. Enjoy your garden!
