If you have styrofoam peanut packing material left over from holiday packages, you can put them in plastic bags, seal the bags and set them in the bottoms of your containers to take up space. Don't use loose ones, though, or the potting soil or garden soil will trickle down between the peanuts and raise them up whenever you water the soil. Failing that, sealed plastic milk cartons will work but the soil will work its way between them and eventually out of the drainage holes in the container. Good luck with your garden!
