I currently have strawberries left over from last season. I want to fill the rest of the bed with a flower without killing the strawberries. Can I plant something like pansies or marigolds? An annual until this fall and I'll plant some daylillies?

Strawberries won't mind a little company in the garden so go ahead and plant. Just be sure to leave enough room for the little runners that your strawberry plants will develop. Strawberry plants should be replaced every 3-4 years because they decline and become disease prone so be sure to preserve at least some of the runners so they can replace your original plants.
