Facing east usually means a few hours of morning sun but shade from hot afternoon sunshine. If this sounds right, impatiens would certainly fit the bill, as would fibrous rooted begonias. Other possibilities, although using foliage color rather than flowers, might be smaller caladiums or coleus with a pink foliage as well as the pink polka dot plant (Hypoestes). Another favorite - fuchsias. Enjoy your hanging pots.
