can you suggest the best nutrients for onions and garlic

Once established, onion plants should receive a 21-0-0 fertilizer (Ammonium sulfate or Ammonium nitrate) as a side-dress application. Or, if you have an all purpose garden feritilizer such as a 10-10-10, you can use that instead.
