I started Butterfly Bush from seed this year. The seedlings are very nice and healthy
looking. How fast do they grow and when can I expect them to bloom? Any special winter care needed for these new plants?

Butterfly Bush (Buddleia davidii) grows very quickly and blooms on new growth. Your plants should be large enough to begin to bloom for you late this summer. If you trim off the spent flowers the plants will bloom until frost.

During harsh winters this shrub freezes back to the ground and regrows from the roots the following summer. You might pay special attention to mulch these well for their first winter, but apart from that they shouldn't require any extra care.
