Please tell me what climbing vines I can plant in our area (Zone 3) for both sun and partial shade. Would like vigorous growers as this is a new home and new deck.

I suggest climbing honeysuckle (Lonicera sempervirens). It enjoys just the light conditions you describe, is a vigorous grower and bloomer, and the colorful blooms attract hummingbirds. Many varieties are hardy in zone 3, but check with local nurseries first for the hardiest stock. Burpee offers the brilliant red variety 'Blanche Sandman' if you can't find local stock. Enjoy!
