The Q&A Archives: Fast-Growing Hedges

Question: I need a fast growing evergreen hedge to put in front of my house for privacy. What do you suggest?

Answer: Laurel is one of the most durable hedging plants for Western Washington gardens. Escallonia, photinia, and Ilex (holly) are frequently used, as well. All of these plants are evergreen, and each takes well to shearing or pruning to keep them in shape and growing densely.
