The Q&A Archives: cutting down trees

Question: i have a minium of 20 pine trees i want to cut down and will be replacing althea. I need to know how to cut down the trees and prepare ares for altheas

Answer: Although you can cut the trees down at soil level, unless you also remove the stumps and the roots, they will resprout, especially if you plant something else in the area which you regularly water. Depending upon the sizes of the trees, you may be able to have someone pull them out or scoop them out with a backhoe. If they are small enough for you to dig by yourself, I'd recommend you do so before replanting. Best wishes with your project!
