| I live in the DFW metro plex of Tx. The front of my house faces south and the back yard faces north. I wan to plant some shrubs next to my house. It does not get very much sunlight. I have burmuda grass; it will not grow in this area so I want to plant some shrubs. I have the black gumbo soil but have been using organic fertlizer for three years; what shrubs can I plant that would last year round? |
| The following shrubs will grow in the shade and stay about 4' tall: Dwarf burford holly (Ilex cornuta rotunda burfordii), Dwarf Chinese holly (Ilex cornuta rotunda), Dwarf pittosporum, Bridal wreath spirea, and Nandina (harbour dwarf, gulf stream, or nana). These shrubs grow 5-8 feet tall: Japanese boxwood, Fraser photinia, Green Pittosporum, and Indian hawthorne. Good luck with your new shrubs. |
