Some years aphids are a real problem. Even if you kill the ones you see, others fly in to feast on tender new growth. The good thing is that they will not be so active when the weather gets hot and the growth isn't as tender and tasty. There are a few beneficial insects that usually show up when aphid populations are high. There's a parasitic wasp that preys on aphids (you may see some dead aphids that turn tan in color and crunch if you pinch them). I'd keep up with the water from the hose treatment to wash the pests off the plants. Daily is probably necessary. And wait for the beneficial insects to come to your rescue. As the weather gets hotter your rose leaves may become more sensitive to the insecticides you are spraying so use them with caution. Best wishes with your roses.
