Everytime I ask a sales person, other, I get many different brands to use...I am a little confused what to purchase. |
I think you are getting different answers because no one herbicide will work against all weeds in all turfgrasses. It's best to identify the weeds and use a product that will either kill them or prevent them from growing (pre emergence type product). Broadleaf weed killers will kill dandelions and other broadleaf weeds but will not kill grassy weeds. Grassy weed killers will kill grasses but not broadleaf weeds - and some are harmful to certain types of turf. So the first step is to identify your turf type and then identify the weeds. If you use a weed killer, make sure it is safe to use on your turf type. There are charts and photos on most herbicides so choose the one that lists your turf type on the label as being safe to use the product on, and one that lists the types of weeds you are trying to eliminate. If you can't identify your turf and/or the weeds, take some samples to your local cooperative extension office for help. (Look in the phone book under County offices.) Good luck with your lawn. |
