The Q&A Archives: Caladium

Question: Are caladiums annual or perennial?

Answer: Fancy-leafed caladiums are perennial in tropical or mild winter areas, or when grown indoors, but treated as annuals in cold-winter areas of the country. They prefer to grow in shade, with ideal temperatures of about 70F degrees. In your area you can plant them in pots and grow them outdoors during the summertime, then bring them indoors over the winter months.
