I purchased a geranium plant a few weeks ago from a Home Depot store. I have not seen any buds on the plant and am wondering when it will happen. Is there anything specific I should be doing to promote new buds? I purchased it for the stunning pink flowers and just have a green plant! |
I take it your geranium was blooming when you purchased it because you saw its stunning pink flowers. This means it is mature enough to flower. Geraniums, like most other plants, bloom in a cycle. If you prune off the faded flowers, along with some of the stem, the plant will develop new flowering stems in a greater abundance. Full sunshine is necessary for best performance. If you see no new flower buds, you can pinch the plant back to encourage lots of new growth and as long as the temperatures are below 90F, your geranium should flower in a few weeks. Be careful not to overfertilize geraniums or you will get rank growth and no flowers. Hope this helps! |
