| Last year 4 mature peony plants had very few blooms, as opposed to previous abundant years. No change in the landscape or environment. Last fall I dug them up, split the rhizomes & re-planted in similar locations. This spring once again, very few, if any buds. |
| Peonies can stop blooming if they are planted too deeply, if they are overcrowded, if they get too much nitrogen fertilizer, not enough sunshien, or if their roots have been disturbed. Digging and dividing will help the overcrowding issue, but if they are planted too deeply or if the plants were actively growing when you moved them, they will probably just sulk this year and flower the next. Be patient and they should flower for you next year. |
