If you put up a trellis, the cucumbers can be trained to climb upwards. It won't hurt them to hang over the side of the pot and trail on the ground, as long as you don't accidentally step on them. In small amounts, tea leaves and coffee grounds can be used for plants. The coffee grounds are a source of small amounts of nitrogens and they are organic matter so mixing it into the top few inches of soil is fine. Don't count on them to supply all the nutrients your plants will need over the growing season, though. Using Miracle Gro in amounts as recommended on the label is just fine for your veggies. Good luck with your plants!
