| ok i bought a hanging fuchsia plant from homedepo i asked if it was an annual or a parrenial. they said it was a parrenial....... but on a different fuchsia it said on the tag it was an annual. so i went on the internet and looked it up and some lady said she had hers for 10 years, so im confused. can you help me? |
| Fuchsias are frost tender perennials. In all but the coolest summer, warmest winter regions it is considered an annual. In your desert region you should either consider it an annual (it will wither away and die in the summer heat), or you can take it indoors to grow during the hottest months of the year and then take it outdoors to enjoy in the fall. If you get frost, it won't survive outdoors in winter, but it will grow nicely in spring - until the weather gets hot. So, enjoy your fuchsia outdoors until the temperatures reach into the 90's, take it in until it gets cooler outside, take it out until the low temperatures reach about 50, then take it back indoors until spring weather arrives.
