We have about 3 feet big weigela shurb, but in this spring, just 5 brunches on one side are green. More than 3/4 of the shrub seams to be dry. Can we save this weigela somehow??? She use to bloom nicely every year till now. Thank you. Hana

It sounds to me as though some of the branches of your plant suffered winter damage. Weigela is reasonably hardy, though so I think if you prune away the dead branches you will see some new growth emerge from the roots on that side of the plant. If you get no new growth, the roots are dead - at least on that side of the plant. It could be caused by overly saturated soils, or a hard freeze that affected only one side of your plant. For now, just prune away the obviously dead branches and wait to see what your shrub does. Hope it recovers soon!
