The Q&A Archives: hornets an wasp

Question: I see more hornets around my scrubs an flowers this year/bought hornet trap/is that good are will it draw over everybody esle hornets an swaps to my yard/gets anoyning trying to get to my car/have to walk by my scrubs w bees flying around alr

Answer: Your shrubs must be offering some nectar or the hornets and wasps wouldn't be very interested in them. Setting traps some distance away from the shrubs might lure them away. You might try hosing your shrubs down with water in the early morning to see if you can rinse off any nectar that might be attracting them. If that doesn't discourage them, you might try pruning your shrubs back to remove any flowers they have on them. Wait until dusk to do this - when the wasps and hornets have gone home to nest. Wish there were alternatives!
