The Q&A Archives: Planting dahlias

Question: I planted a dahlia bulb around the beginning of March and still have nothing showing. Why?

Answer: It should have sprouted by now! I wonder if you planted it too deeply? The eyes of the tuber should be planted only about three inches below the surface of the soil. i would dig it up and see if it has developed roots. Dig a generous distance all around the tuber so you don't accidentally damage any roots and then carefully dig until you find the tuber. If it is planted too deeply, raise it up and re-cover it with soil. Hope this helps!
