| 2 weeks back I purchased some 4 inch VINCA and plated them in pots. They were doing fine for about 8/9 days and then started showing up a feature.... the leaves are becoming curly from the sides and they do not look healthy. What is this symptom for. At the same time I have a small rose plant and I found the leaves of that too is becoming curly (didn't find any small insects). Pl. Advice. Thanks. |
| Not much bothers vinca except rough handling while transplanting (which can damage root hairs), or planting too deeply which buries part of the stem that was originally exposed to air. The only other thing - which is really only a remote possibility in this case, is a Potassium deficiency. It is very rare but the symptoms include curling down of lower leaf tips, so the leaves resemble an umbrella. Aphid feeding can cause the leaves to curl but if you are not finding aphids, then I would chalk the problem up to transplant shock. At this point I would simply allow the plants to recover from being transplanted. They may pull out of it all on their own. The roses leaves may simply be new and tender. As they mature they should straighten out on their own. Just keep a watchful eye on your plants and scout continually for aphids. Good luck with your plants. |
